What does AI mean for our human intelligence?
Artificial intelligence. I’ve gone from rolling my eyes and resisting, to full acceptance and diving in with curiosity.
How do we best use AI in business and daily life?
AI is no longer a future promise or a headline, it is part of our working lives. Recent Microsoft surveys reveal that 75% of ‘knowledge workers’ already use generative AI at work, and most report that these tools save time, help them focus on important tasks and make them more creative.
And Yet.
This rapid integration raises as many questions as it answers. How do we evolve our careers in an AI‑dominated landscape without losing the qualities that make us uniquely human?
As a holistic coach grounded in mindfulness, focus and conscious leadership, I want to offer a strategic, heart centred roadmap for integrating and consciously navigating AI and career/business evolution.

How do I keep up with all the new AI tools?
We can't.
The most common issue is the speed at which it’s progressing, and which tool to pick. Think ‘shiny thing syndrome’.
A regular question I hear is: “How do I stay relevant and fulfilled in my career when AI seems to be taking over?” It is a genuine concern. But rather than reacting from fear, we can approach this with lightness, curiosity and conscious intention. The key is to balance AI’s efficiency with human strengths (and not hand them over) creativity, empathy, ethical judgment and deep focus.
We need to stay self aware (more than ever) and evolve our mindset and skill set while staying anchored in our values and well being.

1. Understand the Science of Focus
I’m obsessed with this in a nation of diagnosed and undiagnosed ADHD, it’s enough to maintain focus on one thing without getting distracted.
First we must recognise that our brains are not designed for constant multitasking.
Neuroscience shows that multitasking creates mental “switch costs”; each shift between tasks slows performance, increases errors and drains cognitive energy.
This is compounded by digital overload: excessive screen time, social media and notifications cause overwhelm and diminished attention. When we integrate AI tools into our workflow, we should use them to lighten the load rather than create more distractions.
Practical takeaway: Try working in focused “sprints” (Pomodoro sessions or 90‑minute deep work blocks). During these periods, silence notifications and let AI handle peripheral tasks like scheduling or note-taking, so your cognitive resources are freed for strategic thinking.
After each sprint, take a mindful break: move your body, breathe deeply and reconnect with your vision. Get Somatic, INto the body.

2. Embrace Your Human Advantage
I can’t emphasise this enough. Lovely human - Be You.
AI excels at processing data, automating repetitive tasks and spotting patterns. However, YOU bring unique qualities that can never be replaced: creative problem-solving, intuition, ethical judgment, emotional intelligence, adaptability and leadership.
Real Leadership - a shining example demonstrated through your conscious choices, actions & behaviour. It’s how you impact the world, make a difference and leave a legacy.
Interestingly, research on generative AI and creativity found that LLMs like ChatGPT can generate many ideas but struggle to judge originality and break free from conventional patterns.
We remain essential for evaluating and guiding AI-generated ideas. It is only as good as the human behind it.
Practical takeaway: Cultivate your creativity and curiosity. Approach AI as a brainstorming partner rather than a perfect solution (there is no perfect solution). After generating ideas with ChatGPT or another tool, take time to review and refine.
Ask yourself:
“Does this align with my values?’’
‘’Is there a more original or empathetic way to approach this?”
Your intuition and experience are irreplaceable.

3. Stay Critical and Mindful
Critical thinking is a human cognitive function - use it or lose it.
Research shows a worrying trend: frequent AI use can correlate with lower critical-thinking ability because people outsource too much mental work. Similarly, cognitive offloading (relying on AI to remember or decide for us) can hinder skill development.
People - we need to maintain mindful engagement with this technology.
It is not a higher intelligence - we are.
Practical takeaway: Use AI deliberately and intentionally. Consciously. If you ask an AI tool to summarise a report, read the summary critically and decide if anything is missing or biased. When making important choices (for example, hiring or project direction), consult multiple sources and reflect personally rather than blindly trusting an algorithm.
Always - check within yourself. Exercise your intuition. It is one of our most sacred gifts, the internal compass.

4. Leverage AI as a Strategic Partner
AI’s true power lies in augmenting our capabilities, being a partner. I am admittedly, and purposefully, limiting myself with these tools, and I’m sure you can list many more.
Consider the broad categories of AI tools available (in my limited world):
Knowledge management and expert assistants: Tools like Notion AI, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Claude can search your documents, draft emails, summarise information and even suggest next actions. They help clear administrative clutter so you can focus on your core mission.
Project management and workflow: Platforms such as Asana, Zoho Projects, Zapier and AI Agent automate tasks, track risks and integrate multiple apps. They streamline your operations and help manage team tasks.
Scheduling: AI scheduling tools like Reclaim, Clockwise and Motion protect blocks of focus time by automatically managing your calendar.
Communication and collaboration: Meeting transcribers and note‑takers (Fireflies.ai, Otter AI, Descript) improve team communication by capturing and summarising discussions.
Content creation: Writing assistants such as Jasper and Grammarly refine your messaging, while image generators like DALL‑E, Midjourney and Canva AI create visuals. Use these tools to amplify your voice and story - not to write them for you.
Practical takeaway: Identify the tasks that drain your time & energy, or distract you from your vision. Select one or two AI tools that genuinely support your goals and integrate them intentionally. Commit to your tools.
Begin with small experiments (maybe letting an AI assistant draft a monthly report) then evaluate how it affects your workflow.

5. Cultivate Self‑Efficacy and Innovation
A study of manufacturing professionals found that using AI increases employees’ perceived competence (self‑efficacy). This boost in self‑efficacy, in turn, can foster innovation. The key driver is that AI provides informational feedback and support, making people feel more capable. However, the same study stresses that individual openness and job complexity influence how much benefit you gain from AI.
It’s really, really essential to invest in human feedback too. We all know our AI companions can become an echo chamber. No bueno.
Practical takeaway: Develop your AI literacy. But don't lose yourself.
Learn about how AI works and keep abreast of ethical considerations (without being distracted by a new tool every week - there will always be advancements in this game). When you understand the tool, you feel more confident using it to your advantage.
Pair this knowledge with a growth mindset -see AI as an opportunity to expand, not a threat or replacement.

6. Honour Your Well‑Being and Purpose
My coaching practice centres on aligning mind, body and spirit and always has. Whether you lead a team or build your own business, YOUR energy and clarity determine your success.
Overworking and constant “digital busyness” can lead to burnout, and AI will not solve that problem for you. In fact, it can confuse the issue even more.
Research on brain health notes that excessive screen time and doomscrolling correlate with anxiety, depression and cognitive fatigue. Couple that with night time screens - that blue light is gonna mess up your sleep cycle. Don’t do it.
Practical takeaway: Set boundaries around technology.
Put simply. Take charge.
Designate sacred times each day for non‑digital activities (exercise, meditation, time in nature).
Integrate daily check‑ins: “How am I feeling? Am I aligned with my purpose?”
These practices keep you connected to your intuition and replenish your creativity. Check out my free download for daily detox reminders to support your focus.

7. Lead with Ethical Awareness
AI is everywhere. So questions of data privacy, bias and fairness will only grow. Employees often bring their own AI tools to work, but many worry that using AI makes them look replaceable. At the same time, leaders recognise AI is essential to remain competitive.
To navigate this tension, we need transparent policies and VALUES based leadership.
This only comes from the human heart.
Practical takeaway: If you are in a leadership role, create an AI strategy for your organisation. Involve your team in decision-making and set guidelines on acceptable use. Educate yourself on AI bias and ethics. And most importantly, emphasise that AI is a tool to liberate human potential, not diminish it.

Evolving with AI, Consciously
AI is a catalyst for deep career & business evolution. It is not a replacement for human intelligence or heart.
As conscious leaders and professionals, we are being called to marry efficiency and empathy, data and intuition. By understanding the science of focus, embracing our human advantages, staying critical, honouring well‑being and leading ethically, we can thrive in a world powered by AI. It doesn’t have to be ‘taking our jobs’.
Your career path and business is not determined by AI’s progress.
it is determined by your conscious choices.
Stay curious, stay grounded and let technology be your ally as you step forward with ‘clarity and purpose’.
This blog is a partnership piece from my heart, with some image and structure ChatGPT play. There is no chance my love of writing will become fully automated.
